Genutil: Copy Files Failed To Copy From Source To Target Error Code 5 General Use - Updated 04/25/01 Product Symptom Any time program is trying to copy files from one location to another, but especially when registering discs or updating workstation indexes. Genutil:copy files failed to copy from source to target error code 5. Solution 1. Check the target file to see if it is set read-only or if the user doesn't have permission to write to the destination folder. 2. Check to see that the user has permissions to read from the source folder. 3. The system is unable to either read from the source, or write to the destination.
