Record Manager Inactive Message

General Use - Updated 05/28/99

Product On-Demand 4 Repair

Version 4.x

Symptom

When customer clicked onto the Repair button in OD4.1 he would get the 'Record Manager Inactive' message.

Solution #1

Cold boot the system.

Solution #2

Check for a MSVCRT40.DLL file in windows\system. If the file still exists, rename it and reinstall the program. The fix apparently works well with Win95 version B.

Solution #3
This Microkernel Database Engine (W32mkde.exe) writes to a log file when it is launched. Please note: when you click onto the Repair button in OD4, W32mkde is launch and it reads the Vehicle.dat file.

MKDEMSG.LOG is located in the Windows directory. Make sure this file is NOT Read only or corrupted. You can rename the MKDEMSG.LOG file to .OLD and it will be recreated when W32mkde.exe launches. When the customer goes into the Windows Explorer and double clicks onto W32mkde.exe, the cursor just flipped to an hourglass, then back to an arrow.
